Santa cam prompt

Santa cam prompt for Gemini and ChatGPT that actually looks real

You can put Santa into a photo of your own living room with Gemini (Nano Banana) or ChatGPT. The hard part is the prompt: without the right details Santa looks pasted on, the window shows daylight in a "night" shot, or the timestamp comes out garbled. Here are prompts you can copy, and the fixes for what usually goes wrong.

Night vision
Original photo

Before you start

Take a photo of the room with the Christmas tree, with no people in it. Shoot from a high corner or from the doorway, where a real camera would hang.

Upload the photo to Gemini or ChatGPT and paste one of the prompts below in the same message.

Night vision Santa cam prompt

"Edit this photo of my living room so it looks like a home security camera caught Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Add one Santa in a classic red suit with a white beard, quietly placing wrapped presents under the tree. Keep the room exactly the same: furniture, decorations, walls and perspective. Santa must match the room's scale and the camera angle. Make the whole image look like infrared night vision footage: all lights off, windows show only dark night sky with no daylight, monochrome grey tones, bright infrared glow on close surfaces, soft noise. Santa's beard and hat trim glow white. Add a small white timestamp "DEC 24 11:52 PM IR" in one corner. No other text and no other people."

Doorbell and security cam versions

Doorbell cam: replace the night vision sentence with "Make the whole image look like a frame from a video doorbell camera: strong fisheye wide angle with curved edges, slightly washed-out colors, light compression artifacts, and a small white timestamp "12/24 11:47 PM" in a corner."

Security cam: use "Make it look like a ceiling-mounted home security camera looking down from a high corner: wide angle, slightly soft focus, muted colors, and a camera label "CAM 02 12-24 23:58:14" in the top corner."

Fixing the usual problems

Santa looks like a sticker: add "Santa casts a soft shadow on the floor and is lit by the tree lights" and ask again.

Daylight in the window on a night shot: say "the window shows a pitch black night sky" in a follow-up message.

Santa is too big or too small: say "Santa is the same height as the door frame" or "Santa is about as tall as the tree".

Garbled timestamp: ask for the exact text in quotes and keep it short. If it is still wrong, ask for no timestamp and add one in your photo editor.

Expect a few rounds. Testers often need several follow-ups before the lighting and scale look right.

Or skip the prompting

CaughtTheMagic does all of this for you. Each camera style uses a prompt we tuned on real living rooms, so you upload the room, pick doorbell, night vision, security cam or phone snapshot, and get the photo in about a minute.

It can also turn the photo into a five second video of Santa moving, which chat apps can't do from a still photo of your own room. Your first photo is a free preview.

Questions parents ask

Can Gemini or ChatGPT make a Santa cam photo?

Yes. Upload a photo of your room and give a detailed prompt like the one above. Results vary, so plan on a few follow-up messages to fix lighting and scale.

Why does Santa look fake?

Usually because the prompt doesn't ask him to match the room's light, shadows and scale. Name the light source, ask for a shadow, and give a size reference such as the door frame.

Can I get a video of Santa from my own photo?

Chat apps make still images. CaughtTheMagic can turn your Santa photo into a five second video in the same room and camera look, for 4 credits.

Do I need to upload photos of my kids?

No, and you shouldn't. Use a photo of the empty room only.
